- No root problem
Almost everything written about Denver drain problems is about old pipe. Clay laterals, tree roots, cast iron scaling for a century. Very little of that applies here. Central Park was built from 2001 onward on the old Stapleton airport site. The drains are PVC, they are fused rather than jointed, and roots have essentially no way in.
Call (720) 794-0974PVC lines rarely have root trouble. What goes down them is the story here. Call and describe it.

Grease, and mostly grease
With the pipe itself in good condition, what blocks a Central Park line is what goes into it.
Kitchen grease behaves the same way in PVC as in cast iron. It goes down warm, cools in the horizontal run and sets on the wall. PVC is smoother than old iron so it takes longer to build up, but it does build up, and the newer the house the more likely nobody has ever had the line looked at.
Wipes
A genuinely significant cause here. Central Park's housing skews toward families with young children, and wipes marked flushable do not break down the way paper does. They pass the toilet, travel some distance, and then catch, usually at the first change of direction or wherever the flow slows.
This is the single most common main-line blockage we see in newer Denver housing, and it is entirely preventable. Nothing labelled flushable except toilet paper should go down a toilet.
Garbage disposal load
Most Central Park kitchens have a disposal, and a lot of them get used as a general waste route. Finely ground food combined with grease is a reliable way to coat a line.
Long horizontal runs in larger homes
Some of the housing here is substantial, and a bathroom at the far end of a large footprint has a long run to the stack. Long horizontal runs at minimum fall are less forgiving of anything that settles.
Almost no root intrusion
Worth stating as a positive. If a Central Park main line is blocking, roots are very unlikely to be the reason, and anyone telling you otherwise without having looked should be questioned. The street trees here are also young, with root systems nowhere near the size of those in Wash Park or Capitol Hill.

Wipes in a newer line. Marked flushable. They do not break down, and they catch where flow slows.

Services that fit these homes

Clogged drain repair
For the fixture work that makes up most of what we do here. Kitchen lines, disposals, toilets.

Drain cleaning
Including main-line work where wipes or accumulated grease have restricted the lateral.
See drain cleaning →
Hydro jetting
Occasionally, on a heavily grease-loaded kitchen line. PVC handles jetting well, so pipe condition is much less of a constraint here than in older neighborhoods.

Sewer camera inspection
Less often than elsewhere, and honestly so. In a twenty-year-old PVC line the pipe is usually fine and the question is simply what is in it. We will tell you when a camera is not worth your money.

Same drains, different lines. If you are near Central Park but not listed, call and ask. It takes ten seconds to check.
What we will not tell you here
A quick note, because it matters.
If someone inspects a Central Park drain and starts talking about root intrusion, clay joints or pipe replacement, be sceptical. This housing is too new for those problems, and a fused PVC line does not develop the joint failures that drive replacement recommendations in older Denver.
The realistic outcome for a Central Park drain call is that the line gets cleared and it is fine. That is usually the honest answer.

My house is only fifteen years old. Why is the drain blocked?
Because the blockage is usually what went into the line rather than a problem with the pipe. In newer housing that means grease from the kitchen or wipes in the main line. The pipe being in good condition is genuinely good news, it just does not stop things accumulating in it.
Are flushable wipes really a problem?
Yes, and they are the most common main-line blockage we find in newer Denver housing. They pass the toilet intact and then catch further down where flow slows or the line changes direction. Toilet paper breaks apart in water. Wipes are designed not to.
Could tree roots be getting into my Central Park sewer line?
Very unlikely. The lines here are fused PVC with no jointed sections for roots to enter, and the street trees are young. If someone suggests roots without having put a camera down the line, ask what they are basing it on.
Do I need a camera inspection on a newer home?
Usually not. In a twenty-year-old PVC line the pipe is normally sound and the useful question is just what is blocking it. We would rather clear the line and tell you it is fine than sell you a camera run you did not need.
